  • Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc: A occurs before B. Therefore, A is the cause of B

Example

A classic scene from the second episode of The West Wing, where Jed Bartlett implies that the reason he lost Texas was because he believed Texans would never elect a president who spoke latin


  • A Straw Man Fallacy is when a person creates a weaker, more attackable version of an argument to make it easier to turn down a critic by exagerating. It comes out when two people judge others unfavorably.

  • A Red Herring Fallacy is a device you use in arguments to destruct people from what's properly an issue and sense them off from a relevant pursuit. It surfaces when women discuss their recent project.
